Just for a change in topic, do you guys to know good Life insurance company who do not show prejudice between greencard holder and H-1B Holder.
I just got life insurance through select quote, west coast which coast only 22$ for � million insurance rejected me stating that there is a difference rate of green card holder and Alien.
I got through Prudential which is costing me 50$.
Any experience with you folks

Hi,
I have two I-140 applications and both are from my current emplyer. One was a regular I-140 and the other was a substitute I-140. Both got approved on the same day. Regular had a PD of 04/2007 and substitute had 11/2004.
The regular got approved with PD of 04/2007 and substitute also got approved with 04/2007. So now what are my options of using the 11/2004 PD.
I was expecting USCIS to approve both applications with 11/2004 instead.

I don't think you can do anything, just go with what is given to you by CIS. Because any attempt to mess with dates may hurt your case very badly.
One question though. The sub practice is long gone (no more allowed since 2007), is this an old case?

IV guys have don e great job & the strato is good. My suggestion for fund genenration.... Send one mass mail every month & ask for a small amount of cheque. Let us see how many of us send a small cheques of say $20. We should collect $20K in one shot.

As per my attorney, even if you enter the country on AP, your status can still remain H1, if you are using it to work (instead of EAD).

Same day - never?
It takes 1 or 2 days depending on the rush.
Can people share their experience with same day counter passport collection from the vfs courier center at Chennai.
Reason I ask is, I and my wife have a 9AM appointment on 14th August. And Aug 15th being a holiday on account of India's Independence Day. Since we have to be in US on the 16th August to file for I485, getting the visa on the 16th would be too late. Therefore, it's critical that we collect the passport the same day.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Should I inform the consular of our same night travel plans or is that ill-advised?

Kevin, I often use the technique of "developing" 3 or more images from a single raw file and then blend them using layer masks. For some reason, adobe's automated HDR doesn't work from such images though. It wants 3 real files shot at different exposures. I have no idea why.

While this may seem "out there", it's not really.
US Immigration Law recognizes some administrative divisions within countries. Take Northern Ireland as the classic example. You cannot apply for the DV Lottery if you are from the UK, except if you are from Northern Ireland, yet Northern Ireland is firmly part of the United Kingdom. My 485 got denied Oct14th as my previous employer withdrawn approved 140. I changed employer after 1year of 485 pending. I (Lawyer) filed MTR on NOV 6th. Got mtr granted yesterday.PM me if you need more details

Spgtopper: I am referring to the same bill; specifically section 313. Its a bill that covers a lot of specific details, but seems to ignore current PhD candidates.
Logiclife: Wikipedia and others define "the physical sciences" to exclude life sciences. That is actaully the meaning of physical sciences, i.e. not biological sciences. It would seem stupid to exclude it, since so much of R&D is taking place in biotech etc.
And I believe if they wd have allowed the transfer of F1 to F4, they wd have mentioned it in teh bill. I think the above 2 facts have to be brought to the attention of lawmakers.

What would be considered STEM? Would all professional that are eligible for H1B such as an Accountant or an MBA in Finance or Marketing be considered STEM? Or its just S T E M?

I have used all my H1 years... I was not eligible for extension as my labor /perm was filed < 365 days. Currently on EAD with I 140 pending.. Am I eligible? :cool:
Even I am situation due to I140 denial I am in 9th year extension, I have to start new process soon but I will work on it only I will be eligible for PP of I140.

I agree with you 100% but be sure nothing is going to change three months will in a blink of time and dates will be current or will advance for good number of years. so IV memeberw will get busy filing again and forget IV, look at fund driving effort and see how low it has been
