100 lawmakers meetings, several lawmakers speaking at IV events, thousands will march: Immigration Voice has arranged for over 100 meetings with lawmakers to request reform of green card program. These meetings will be between IV members and lawmakers.
In addition to that, several lawmakers are scheduled to speak at rally and related events on 17th and 18th. Thousands of members will march in DC on 18th. This is a cannot-miss event. Bring your cameras and take pictures you can show the naysayers what they will miss.

Does using an H1 stamp to re-enter USA create any issues with my pending 485?

The State Department states that they allocated a large number of EB-2 and EB-3 visas because of the USCIS I-140 and I-485 backlogs and because if the visa numbers are not used before the end of the fiscal years, some of them can be wasted. Assuming that the USCIS may continue their current processing times and backlogs in I-140 and I-485, the EB-2 and EB-3 may continue to remain current. However, it is just a speculation and risky to rely on such speculation when one handles his/her immigrant status.
In time like this, the consular immigrant visa application is very risky for the two reasons. For instance, if the EB-2 or EB-3 numbers face a cut-off date again in August or September, unless their immigrant visa is "actually" issued and they enter the U.S. before the retrogression, they will be stuck abroad. For those who are currently residing in the U.S. and intend to apply for the immigrant visa through the consulates rather than adjustment of status through the USCIS, a similar risk will prevail, but unlike the those who are residing abroad, they will be able to extend the H-1B extension under AC 21 Act pending the visa number availability. In this regard, their risk is less but still high in that since they did not submit I-485, they will not be able to take advantage of obtaining EAD and Advancer Parole, not to mention AC 21 portability of the approved I-140 petition for change of employment. All in all, the consular immigrant visa application is not recommended when the future of the visa numbers remins unpredictable.

Yes, as long is there is a 140 or 485 pending some where some place or a Labor pending for more than a year, you are eligible for h1 extension beyond 6 years.
My first 2 extensions after 6 years were based on a labor from previous company.

I filed for 485 went to India came back to USA. I didn't have any 485 receipts with me.
Had no issues what so ever, in fact I was not asked anything about 485 application. After coming back went for finger printing , that means my application is still in process.
Important Note :- During this period I had valid H1b stamp on my passport.

Many people might have lost job because of last year rally. Here I heard one of company in Chicago area fired all the illegal immigrants in last year immeditely after rally. So this kind of things may not be necessarily positive.
If Illiegals can protest and can have large rallies across the nation then whats the problem with the legals? Why can't we put our point forward through these kind of peaceful but strong measures.:confused:

A rather alarming report, detailed in the Los Angeles Times (http://immigrationvoice.org/www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-customs-audit-20101228,0,2191445.story), shows that new travel restrictions requiring passports for American citizens to reenter the country are not being enforced.
These are American citizens, so perhaps we should not get too excited about the report, but it still makes you wonder about travel enforcement in general. Here are excerpts from the article:
Despite new travel requirements, more than 2.3 million Americans reentering the country by land or sea from Mexico or Canada failed to produce a passport, birth certificate or other secure document to establish identity and nationality, a government review has found.
Most people, including about 500,000 in California, were allowed to pass through ports of entry without the approved documents or without being sent to a secondary inspection post for a more in-depth examination, according to the report by the inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security.
Many travelers were allowed to pass after undergoing extensive questioning and producing at least a driver's license, the report found. Overall, 96% of travelers arriving at the 39 busiest land ports were in compliance with the new law, which took effect in June 2009.
The procedure for processing those without the required documents needs to be more precise and implemented across the board, the report said.
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, approved by Congress last year, requires U.S. travelers reentering the country from Mexico or Canada to present documents, such as a passport or birth certificate, to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
Out of more than 1 million people, including U.S. and foreign citizens, who legally enter the United States each day, about three-fourths arrive by land from Mexico or Canada, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

If you ask them to expedite then you are talking to a wall..which means that is next to impossible. I requested them to expedite my EAD renewal twice and they refused to do so (email reply). My case is 78 days old now and the current EAD is expiring in a month from now.
