It would be useful (this is not addressed just to you, Amigo) if instead of just listing a bunch of programs you gave a quick description of what each program does, like AL did in his original post. Links would be helpful, as well.

Apple should just roll their own.
They have the power, the talent, the size, and certainly the scale, to go their own way with an excellent chance of success.
The more things they do in-house, the better. It'll only enhance the Apple ecosystem and grow it.
Is this always the best approach? Unless Apple intends to invent something beyond the wheel, why just invent the wheel all over again? The duplication of effort doesnt sound very cost effective. And for good or ill, we do operate in a Neo-Liberal economy where its most cost effective to source services and products from others. All the same I can understand the Google thing, but I dont think the articles distance itself from Google language is the best choice of words. Reduce dependency on Google would be more accurate. Anyway, I would have to think that Apples plan is to move beyond the wheel. I wonder what that will look like?

We had a huge day yesterday! 879,000 points in a single day!
Can we hit a million points in a day?
Some more good news: at this rate, we are a week away from overtaking a team ahead of us, and less than a month from passing two more! Our biggest threat behind us is 8 months away, but by that time we will have passed at least 5 teams ahead of us. Great job guys! Keep it up!

It may be fun for play, but I cant see anything real being done on that. Most high end photo editors wont even use a trackpad/laptop...
And from a user standpoint, having all menus buried and no keyboard shortcuts, you're expanding the time to edit drastically.
That.
Tablets have their use, but advanced programs are not suitable .
It is a toy. You can't seriously think that professionals are going to depend on Photoshop for iPad and throw away their computer can you? That's like throwing away your computer because GarageBand is also available on the iPad, and attempting to produce an album on an iPad. Impossible.
No matter what Steve says, it is a toy! I think it is brilliant you can do these things on such a simple product for the average user, but they are nothing more than for... the average user.
That's nice, but

Is this well-veiled sarcasm? If not, you guys are ridiculous.
1) Google does not own the mapping database they use
2) Even if they did, there are multiple geographic/mapping data providers
3) None of them obtained their data by having employees drive around in vehicles... That's an absurd suggestion
Is this well-veiled sarcasm? If not, you are ridiculous. How do you think Google gets its "Street View" data? Here's a hint:

Yeah, we seem to have reversed the drop. The trend is really obvious if you look at our weekly and monthly charts on extremeoverclocking:
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=3446
I've added a second i7 2600k for another 50k PPD and a new quad core MBP is coming tomorrow, but I don't intend to use that for folding long term.
Also, we've just entered another cold snap here, so the GPUs can run for another week or so!
Keep it up!
Rob
that's awesome! you'll have to let us know how that quad mbp does! i wonder how much wattage it would use also?
but yeah, you and whiterabbit are carrying us right now!

...Apple is rumored (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/28/apple-purchases-icloud-com-for-4-5-million/) to have purchased the iCloud.com domain name for $4.5 million dollars.
Does this mean whoever randomly happened to have iCloud.com just made 4.5M$? Is there any money to be made by squatting on those? That seems counterintuitive, since if anyone could do it, so could Apple. Or do all domain names that have the form i[noun].com cost a ton of money for that reason?

and watch, Apple will ban that app.
Only because it would be redundant. Did you hear? It will be in a future iOS update.

Here's mine, I modified a fairly plain wallpaper picture I found.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4137/4884629800_92ee54d8c3_b.jpg
Here's the background if you want it. Sorry, I had to up the jpeg compression quite a bit to make it small enough to upload. Oh you also have to strech to fill it as it's a weird proportion, but there's plenty of pixels so you aren't stretching.

Realistic dream car would be the Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

Purely dreaming (or if I ever win the lottery), right now, it's probably the Aston Martin Rapide.
